I think 2022 was the year that my enthusiasm for new tech has started to wear off. Not gone, but not as strong as it was in previous years.

Normikoto (norm@misskey.biribiri.dev)'s status on Friday, 30-Dec-2022 11:53:53 JST Normikoto @tk@bbs.kawa-kun.com @Moon@shitposter.club I think after seeing GPU sell for inflated prices at the end of 2020, I just got way more jaded with new tech.

Normikoto (norm@misskey.biribiri.dev)'s status on Friday, 30-Dec-2022 11:59:41 JST Normikoto @tk@bbs.kawa-kun.com @Moon@shitposter.club pretty much. You really aren't seeing much of a real benefit over mid range stuff or older gen GPUs even with modern AAA games.

The most popular GPU on Steam's hardware survey for a long time was a GTX 1060 after all, and right now it's only behind... the GTX 1650.Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -

:suya: (newt@stereophonic.space)'s status on Friday, 30-Dec-2022 12:04:56 JST :suya: @tk @norm @Moon how high-end are we talking about? Because I could probably justify buying a 4080 with the fact that I won’t need to replace it for the next 6 years. At least. -

:suya: (newt@stereophonic.space)'s status on Friday, 30-Dec-2022 12:12:38 JST :suya: @norm @Moon @tk I bought my 1080 in 2016 and it lasted me until a few months ago. I’d keep it longer, as the performance was just fine, but it started dying for some reason :blobfoxnotamused: Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this.
