   @emilymbender has been writing extensively about it as well (she's the joint first author of the Stochastic Parrots paper), and there's also a lot of good stuff to find from @abebab among others on similar issues in image generation.

     @amanda @timnitGebru @per wonderful, this helps my thinking a lot actually. Since the rise of ChatGPT all I have been thinking is what @mlowdi helped me articulate at some point that the greatest threats of "ai" is not what it actually does but what we -believe- it can do. To understand it is not really being artificially intelligent but rather creatively parroting is part of the debunking.

     Just learned that “stochastic parroting” is the technical term for what ChatGPT does, which makes so much more sense than AI
