@apps What would you think of a #QuoteBoost action like that in @elk for #Fedilab? It's just a combined Boost and Reply so that the timestamp of the reply is very close to the boost's timestamp. Even if these entries aren't displayed a a thread in the timeline, I would love that the reply would immediately follow the boost even in crowded timelines.

(BTW I think #QuoteBoost should be called #ReplyBoost since that's what it really is.)

  But currently there is no api response supporting that feature?
  For instance Mastodon could make it possible by having status.reblog(Status)!=null with status.content(String)="quoted reply from user".

  I coined the phrase #QuotePost via #BoostReply, but it's way to long to fit in one hashtag.

  If I correctly understand what you want with Fedilab:
  1 - Add a "quote boost button" that will allow to write a reply to a post.
  2 - when submitting, it will first automatically boost the message and then publish the reply.
  Visually, the app detects a boost from a user and a reply to this boost from the same user really close in time.
  Group them visually like in the screenshot?

  It can be done, but an API support will offer compatibility with all clients.

    The negative aspects of #QuoteTweets could be fixed by making them work more like replies. A #QuoteReply, if you will. Instead of appearing as a new toot unconnected with the original, the original toot would be boosted with a comment added that is shown both to followers and, crucially, the original poster. Subsequent replies would then go to both in the usual way so that the conversation is not forked. (The same should also happen with regular boosts IMO.) #Mastodon #UX #QuoteToot #noxp
