People, please start using CamelCase (aka PascalCase) to break apart words in #HashTags.

It makes it easier to read and more #accessible. Single words are OK to keep lowercase, unless they are proper nouns ?

As an instance moderator, it makes it easier to review if you're a #MastoAdmin.

    #CamelCaseAllTheHashTags

    #Mastodon #HashTag #accessibilty

@jamesbritt also shared you can #Use_The_Underbar!

Please #boost this for visibility and to help improve the lives of many people.

@ScottSoCal @elan It's the history of the instance, each hashtag has a canonical capitalization and it's first come first served.

@elan I'm new, so my "history" is less than 4 weeks, and I never Twittered, so hashtags aren't a thing for me - I have to consciously remember to use them. But I have tagged on #dogsofmastodon - HA! I caught it in the act. Screen grab.

@elan The frustration comes when I do CamelCase, and Mastodon switches it to lowercase, because it recognizes the tag and wants it to match.

      Boost, please.

For the benefit of people using (or having to use) #ScreenReaders and the #MastoAdmins:

use #PascalCaseHashtags to break apart words in #HashTags.

@MoiraEve @HistoPol @elan @jamesbritt More importantly, don’t you, as a sided person, look at camel case hashtags and think, hey! This is easier to read for me! Maybe if I do this, it’ll be easier to read for others, I just don’t understand why people enjoy making things harder on themselves

I'd say that I have a pretty big vocabulary.
For quite some years now, I have watched with some concern that societal subgroups have been using social media to further their particular lingo to spread it to other groups, so that it .ight become mainstream. That is fine, however, as long as it is not *expected* by people of other groups to know that vernacular.

That said, I've used DuckDuckGo and Wikipedia for more than 5 min. There...

...simply is *no* term "sided person".

When communicating internationally, we all need to make more effort to explain, I think, in particular if a discussion is in good faith.

      @weirdwriter @MoiraEve @elan @jamesbritt

Now that we've got this sorted out, I have a question that really has been on my mind often regarding. :

For sighted people, writing it this way is much clearer:

#UShistory instead of #USHistory (Tusky always converts this into #ushistory)

      and

      #RoeVsWade instead of #RoeVWade (Tusky: #roevwade.)

Is there a significant difference for you?
(Apart from the all small-letters version of Tusky, that is harder for everyone.)

Are empty lines of any use?

@HistoPol @MoiraEve @elan @jamesbritt Not really, no! I hear everything in one long status update anyway so line breaks and paragraphs are more for sighted people. Now if I wanted to explore the post, I would like the line breaks and the paragraphs, but if it comes down to it it makes no difference whatsoever. I wish all apps made all hashtags pascal case! But yeah having hashtags all in lower letters soundslikethisanditisveryhardtohear

" I wish all apps made all hashtags pascal case! "
Me, too. In fact, it makes long hashtags more easily readable for "sighted people" as well. ;) It is quite a bit more work, alas, in particular, as my apps try suggesting (and auto-replacing) previously used #Hashtags with all small letters, which I then have to switch back to #PascalCase. (I...

Now that we've got this paragraph issue settled, how about my two examples, are #UShistory or #USpol o.k. for you to listen to or do you need #USHistory and #USPol? Especially the second one can be misleading for sighted people, as USP (Unique Selling Proposition) is actually a much used acronym, therefore I prefer my personal slight variation.
