I like there not being quoting on here, it means I end up talking to people instead of quoting their post with a comment (so actually just talking to an audience that is not the OP), and I think talking to people is much better when it comes to understanding their POV.
If you have to add it, can I have an option to block it from happening (both for me being tempted to quote other peoples' posts and people trying to quote my posts)?

Last thing I need is for someone to start quoting my posts, possibly out of context, and then I have a whole load of strangers being angry in my notifications. Had enough of that in the other place.
I don't even quite grasp what the use case for journalists is. Is it 'a famous person said some bullshit and here's my comment on it because I am a reporter and me doing that makes it A NEWS'? -

There are other platforms like #MissKey that allow quote posting. I recommend people use that platform as MissKey can still communicate with #Mastodon. #EverybodyWins
