     @eirliani of course, things are different. Your post will be shown on your servers local timeline, follower’s home, and follower’s server’s federated timeline.
     It seems wider than Twitter, but your post won’t be found by full text search unconsciously. If Mastodon user hope posts to be discoverable, we need to add hashtags. It’s biggest difference from twitter.

     @taiyo @eirliani Even the hashtags only travel as far as your following (I only discovered that recently). So it's possible for two people to be using the same hashtag on different servers and not know about each other. But that changes quickly as soon as you each get some followers on the other main servers, so it's not really a problem. It's nice in some ways that you could carve out a little space without it being trivial to find.
