     Christianity has two disciplines. Natural theology, which is raw logic, and revealed theology, which is the fideist part. The former is traditionally used to make probability judgements on the latter in the Western tradition, and as it turns out, we can know quite a lot.

     Whether you believe it or not is a choice you have to make. "I'm making the rational choice" is a cope for someone who doesn't want to grapple with the decision.
     Anyway
     Read Genesis 1-4 first and look up the meanings of the names and places. There are a lot of double and triple meanings in there that relate to the NT and the NT is full of callbacks to the OT.
     A surface-level reading of the text won't mean anything to you because 200 years of post-enlightenment thought have taught you that all meaning is just a coincidence so youll have to go deeper in the text to find what you're looking for.
