   Nearly caught myself posting about how when I was a kid in this weather you needed to take a kettle of boiled water to the toilet to get rid of the ice because WE HAD AN OUTDOOR LOO and then remembered it makes me sound like something from the stone age.

   And then I posted it anyway.

     @ianbetteridge in the mid-80s I lived in a flat in the middle of Zürich, where in winter if you forgot to put the milk in the fridge, it was frozen solid in the morning.

     @ianbetteridge I don't know, at least our toilet wasn't outside ? But a couple of glorious years in an old apartment building in an incredible location in the centre of Zürich, without central heating (only wood fired stoves in the bedrooms). But of course a few years later it was all redeveloped into luxury apartments.
