@evan In the time before that time began, there was the punch-card reader. Engagement with the technology was so much more tactile, more measured. And it was far clearer that you were in control: if there was a bug or a fault, that was your mistake, or it was a blown fuse or a faulty valve to fix. The machine was yours to do your work; it wasn't at all a proxy for someone else to own you.
@evan I have. I work in material culture so what I was thinking of there was an update to incorporate some of our more recent ways of thinking.
