No, we don't buy old computers because of a fake virus that doesn't even exist and WinDOS 11, it's because new computers aren't real computers anymore.
So much tyranny going on:
・No repairability
・Planned obsolescence
・TPM 2.0
・Microshaft Pluton
・More and more ports being removed (excuse being "make everything thin")
・Retarded keyboards
・Can't replace battery
・Hardware is soldered together
So new computers can go fuck themselves.

@ryo "Retarded keyboards"
That one is every laptop ever made. The first exception will exist only if I make it. Maybe I can make it so that two halves of an ergonomic keyboard fold out. It could just be a small thing in there and still be less retarded than almost all keyboards ever made, but still, having both hands so close together is uncomfortable, so a transforming monstrosity that scares lesser humans away would be optimal. -

@TerminalAutism If I have to compare an X200 keyboard to an X260 keyboard, I absolutely prefer the X200 one, as it's much closer to a real keyboard, the keys feel more right, and so on.
Plus the lack of a trackpad means I can rest my hands on it while typing instead of keeping them mid-air all the time.
Of course you can't make a laptop keyboard identical to a desktop keyboard due to the lack of space.
Current year laptops ALL mimick the retardedness of Crapple, that's what I mean here.
And among the ThinkPads, the (LETTER)(number related to screen size)20(maybe letter) were the last ones with an actually good laptop keyboard, so before it went full Crapple keyboard.
Hell, even Crapple made decent laptop keyboards in 2008 and before. -

Not only is it possible, it has been done. Here it is. Anyway, it is more viable than it has ever been. If laptops can be as thin as they are now, they could easily fit a real keyboard in there (along with a shitload of ports) by making them thick again. No laptop with an ergonomic keyboard, though. Gonna have to make that one myself.
Again, the metal briefcase computer idea. Probably already mentioned it. People already carry computers in bags anyway, so why not make the computer it's own bag? And then it can be even bigger. Hell, Toughbooks are kinda like that, they are thick and have handles. It's not all that difficult to do nowadays. -

@TerminalAutism Never seen a laptop like that before.
Must be a giant-sized laptop I think (or a different category, considering that it can no longer be put on the TOP of your LAP).
And perhaps won't be doing well in a country like Japan where desks are generally way smaller compared to those in the west.
Also, what's with the huge amount of space in the area where that dragon is? -

@ryo *Mostly aren't real computers. Luckily, we still have Purism, System76, and ThinkPenguin.

@ryo Well, it could be much smaller if it didn't have a full size keyboard, but more of a 75% keyboard, and if it didn't have the touchpad on the right (it looks like it's also a numpad?). And the extra vertical space I guess is just so that the screen doesn't end up with really silly proportions. Ridiculously wide, but very short. That's my assumption.
And it would do even better in Japan, because it would be even more of a Chad move to use that in public. Though it could be better, it could also have multiple monitors that fold out. -
