"If wishes were horses, beggars would ride"
Who the hell thinks this would be the most noteworthy consequence of such a metaphysical situation
"If wishes were horses, beggars would ride"
Who the hell thinks this would be the most noteworthy consequence of such a metaphysical situation
"If ifs and buts were candy and nuts"
Everyone just leaves this one hanging as if it's perfectly obvious what this would mean
Like would a horse materialize on top of your birthday cake when you blow out the candles
Would you have to hide it from everyone
Me with a mouth chock full of candy and nuts: GMIFFS MANGD PMBUTHTZ
Thinking about the first Middle English person to mispronounce "yef" and some candy appears and they're like whaet ŧe aectuall fukka
@ursaborealis what would happen in this scenario if your wish was that beggars are unable to ride
@evan Also, like, what's wrong with beggars getting to ride?
@TBHicks that's at least reasonable. A frog is a physical object and it's just a premise that that frog might be different physically.
The horses one is like "What if Cartesian duality broke down in some completely barnyard way"
"What if words were unrelated physical foodstuffs"
@evan I've always preferred "If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumps."
I don't know what I was expecting
I guess at least more nuts
@jasonbrooks if you hold up an eyelash for someone to blow off your finger do you get hit in the face with a 2-tonne horse
@evan I'm trying to process this
@twipped no
@evan does it make more sense to learn it was invented by the Scottish? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_wishes_were_horses,_beggars_would_ride
