   I tried really hard on Tumblr too, but I couldn't get anywhere. At the time I thought I was just too old to get on with the average age user on the platform.

   It is quite an energy sink to be posting into the void.

     When I decided to bail on twitter I had intended to use mastodon AND tumblr as the replacement.

     But, I often find I just don't have the energy for tumblr. I just don't find it rewarding for some reason. I feel like I'm talking to no one over there. I guess I'm addicted to getting little gold stars just like my students. ?

     I think we hype-up intrinsic motivation, in unrealistic ways. It's nice and probably normal to want other people to like your stuff.
