     @parappanon@cdrom.tokyo lower system resourcesYou say that but Pleroma has some huge flaws in the way it interacts with the database, any decently sized will exponentially increase resource. As someone who hosts both Misskey and Pleroma I must say that despite the bloated UI Misskey actually is much better for server resource usage over a long period of time.

     @SuperDicq I agree with the no propietary software idea 100%. Tumblr is definitely not to be trusted - as much as I prefer using Pleroma over Mastodon for many reasons (such as the not as soydev-ish UI, lower system resources if I ever move to self hosting my instance, although I might even move to another lightweight Fedi protocol if so and the fact that Pleroma instances generally tend to be less strict than their Mastodon counterparts), I'd rather be in one of the biggest Mastodon instances than on Tumblr.
     
     The fact that Flickr seems to be considering to do what Tumblr is now going to do as well means that the corporate takeover of Fediverse could be happening soon...

     @parappanon@cdrom.tokyo I still need to think properly about the pros and cons, but I am currently considering to adopt a "no federation with proprietary software" policy to defend the fediverse from EEE practises.
     
     Being able to host your own instance that is exactly the same in feature parity as another is key to having a fair fediverse. And I doubt Tumblr will publish their sourcecode when they start federating.

     What is the issue with Pleroma that causes this Super?

     Does either of the 2 Pleroma forks fix this issue (Akkoma or Rebased)?

     @parappanon@cdrom.tokyo Nah, cdrom isn't going anywhere any time soon. I will most likely migrate the instance to akkoma soon however.
     
     Also because of the aforementioned issues cdrom does have more downtime than minidisc does tho. A lot of cdrom users have a backup account here.

     @SuperDicq Yeah, I can see that. To be honest Misskey doesn’t look as bloated as Mastodon does to me, but it does really feel like a mobile-oriented service, rather. I’m willing to move to Minidisc if this instance dies off, though.

     @parappanon@cdrom.tokyo What's most likely going to happen in case Pleroma's resource usage gets out of control is that I will simply close registration so it doesn't grow any further.
