     @georgetakei I would love to see a BirdSite phone as long as it was cheap.
     I could get one and give the phone number to people I don't want to talk to and since it'd be a BirdSite phone it would never work right.

     Imagine meeting that neighbor nobody wants to talk to at the grocery store. Pull the phone out of your pocket and say "oops sorry got to go - BirdSite call."

     Nice idea but unfortunately it would probably become a nasty right wing squawk box of intolerance.

     @georgetakei And the people who will buy this phone are basically "TruthSocial" subscribers - so the whole exercise accomplishes what, other than chaos that is worth billions to someone at this time ?
     Not to mention, I don't install ANY SM apps on my devices. Be on a website or be gone, things tied to a proprietary device are dead to me.

     @georgetakei The Windows Phone failed, and was produced by a better entrepreneur. Huawei is being actively propped up by the Chinese government and marketed as the patriotic choice of the PRC and STILL trails two other phone companies (one of which is Chinese).

     Keeping that new phone afloat might be harder than Twitter.

     @georgetakei Easy to build the HW, program a phone OS from scratch, then create an app store filled with all the other apps people will want on their phones.

     Maybe a weekend or so for Musk and his zillion-X programmers, in their spare time, while fixing Twitter degradation, adding the new features Musk insists they need and keeping Milo Yiannopolos, et al. from getting them massively fined by the EU for GDPR and Digital Services Act violations. ?
