I feel compelled to comment on today's latest hellthread since it involved a lot of people who are either mutuals or who I interact with in my replies;
YEC, flat earthism, and similar schitzo theories are poisonous beyond all comprehension, DK may religiously be a heathen but that doesn't make him wrong when he asserts that well researched scientific principles aren't beaten by schitzo theories you found on 4chan. Or interpretations of the Bible that you either heard from crazy people or derived yourself without seeking proper spiritual guidance from your pastor.
This, by it's very definition is smart people repellent, asserting barely constructed theories in the face of empiricism is going to scare away most with any modicum of intelligence, this is not good for ours, or any movement. The left faces a similar problem with their dogmatic obsessions with both racial grievances and the blank slate theory, and is why some of the only truly smart people they have left are walking corpses like Chomsky.

@Crux_Invictus @SuperLutheran @Shadowman311 But Crux, we're on the internet. We need to get into rhetorical knife fights and blood feuds over petty bullshit. What else are we gonna do?

@SuperLutheran @Shadowman311 Does the age of the Earth change the fact that White people are under attack? Does the Earth being flat, round or pop-tart determine who is saved through faith in Jesus Christ?
Maybe it's the migraine and general feeling like crap that's talking. But can we stop digging trenches over shit that doesn't matter? Turn the other cheek and just ignore/mute/block the people who are just shit stirrers.

@SuperLutheran @Shadowman311 How far away is the Andromeda galaxy, SL?

@SuperLutheran @VarnaNecropolis @Shadowman311 Your YEC position is retarded because it's ignorant and innumerate, as would be amply demonstrated the instant you gave the correct answer of 2.5 million light years (next question: if we're observing light that is 2.5 million years old, how can the universe be only 6000 years old?)

@SuperLutheran @VarnaNecropolis @Shadowman311 It's not a "bad faith question nor is it in any way "leading," you just don't like where it leads

@DK_Dharmaraj @VarnaNecropolis @Shadowman311 Not at all. It's that you've already decided and proclaimed that my position is retarded, schizo, etc., and you have decided I should be expelled from da moobment based on my beliefs. No question you ask merits a real response or good faith engagement.

@SuperLutheran @VarnaNecropolis @Shadowman311 This isn't nearly as clever as you think it is. For example, to begin with, Buddhism is not "monistic"

@DK_Dharmaraj @VarnaNecropolis @Shadowman311 And leading, bad faith questions aren't very clever.

@VarnaNecropolis @SuperLutheran @Shadowman311 Is the claim here that the Andromeda galaxy is not a physical place?

@DK_Dharmaraj @VarnaNecropolis @Shadowman311 Well according to buddhist monism, I am the Andromeda galaxy (which again is illusory - Siddhartha made it clear when he literally said, "all is illusion"), so I fail to see any distance at all.
Besides, Zen teachers would have me cease rational thought anyway, so I ought not think about it any deeper.
