     A 4003 could handle it, I'm sure. A vintage 4001 has a bit of a design flaw in the neck and most by now require lighter gauge strings to avoid it straight up breaking.
     
     I get the impression you're not playing bass for presence in the mix, but rather indiscernible low end rumble like a nigger driving by in a lowered Civic with 24" subs. You in a grotesque sludge metal band or something? to be tuned so low?

     Naw nothing so glamorous; I learned playing pedal-points in a church worship band. Making my lowest note A0 = bottom piano key, highest fret note C4 = middle C => bass = bottom half of piano keyboard is what made sense in my mind.

     Hey @The_Almighty_Kek — if you own one you might actually know; I put BEAD strings on 4-string electric bass, and drop it to ADad. It generally works better with a longer scale length - and I very often have to transfer fixed-bridges down the body at very least 1/4” to make the intonation work.
     Do you think a Rickenbacker would hate me ? Or do you think it might just naturally be able to handle it ?
