The random Effective Altruist troll paid by billionaires to push disinformation about the environmental impact of AI (that its fake), being platformed on the Time 100 AI list tells you everything you need to know about mainstream media's role in the pushing the broligraphy's propaganda and disinformation. This troll suddenly became popular through coordinated social media campaigns.
As I discuss in my upcoming book, a few years ago, they had an effusive cover story on the Effective Altruists, written by a then Time editor who is now the communications director of Open Philanthropy (Facebook cofounder's outfit), which is now rebranded as Coefficient Giving. https://dair-community.social/@timnitGebru/117087966871760448
@ricci@timnitGebru It's utterly expected that the publications, owned by and serving billionaires, are mouthpieces for disinformation. They're not "falling for" anything.
What's shameful and should be unexpected is that the "journalists" working for them are just falling in line and doing what they're told in such a critical time, rather than saying no. Rather than refusing, publicizing the memos ordering them to do this shit, recording and releasing the phone calls with their bosses telling them to do this shit, etc.
