     @PurpCat I just use fedora atomic KDE because it just werks for me and I don’t get all the drama over systemD Wayland ai in kennel rust in kernel cope cope cope.
     
     Updates are fast which is nice because even just downloading a new app or updating a driver on windows 11 is so throttled and barely multi threaded if at all.

     @KaiserKitty @PurpCat Fedora is the only usable mainstream distro for a while. Debian/Ubuntu have been a lost cause for many years, Arch is normified (including annoying powerjannies) and Gentoo doesn't care about its users anymore. People complain about Arch having small repos, but Gentoo is missing way more. I'm maintaining ~50 packages for myself that don't exist in repos or GURU (Gentoo's AUR).

     @phnt @KaiserKitty @PurpCat haha, oof yeah it's gonna be that way for me. On Gentoo, I noticed things on the GURU don't build because they don't support python3_14, or are old version (and i need the up to date ones for xyz), so the utility of the GURU goes to hell. Ironically, much to the detriment of mgorny, LLMs are good at making ebuilds, but damn is it annoying after a while, maybe because I don't have a subscription yet. I was thinking about jumping to Fedora, but I need some advanced features like ACPI table modification, and I have my own patches for thigns that'd be annoying to try to maintain on Fedora. NixOS is a mess, too. All around, I think getting into linux and foss (at least the linux side of foss), was a mistake.

     the thing is, uploading a video and easy and requires very little effort. putting your money, time, and effort where your mouth is is very difficult. most people are incapible of doing that
