   @alwayscurious @dalias @grumpybozo and if the conclusion is that lighting is beneficial in a particular case as little as possible should be used, for as little time as possible, in as few places as possible.

   And externalities like disrupted sleep of residents who have to deal with streetlights in front of their houses needs to be considered too

     @azonenberg @alwayscurious @grumpybozo This externality is why I'm very much against white (i.e. blue) LED lighting. Sodium lights or genuine amber (not blue + phosphors) LED lighting.

     @azonenberg @alwayscurious @grumpybozo Just checked and there are "amber" and "yellow" LEDs almost perfectly matching sodium line. 590-595 nm. I haven't seen them available as bulbs, but you can get them as smd components up to at least 3W each. Not sure how efficient they are compared to blue/white tho.
