told someone one of the worst parts of growing older is when you don't realize that when you are a smol is the only time humanity decided to innovate on things.
you become a middle-aged adult, confident not to become the old blob that only watches the same series from the 1960s forever. then the zoomers are watching DS9 because everything sucks and skyrim has been re-released for the 15th consecutive year.

@nicholas the part that is devastating is that zoomers are doing it.
the old people it's just like "i dont want no TVs with them darkies and womens on it!!" but the fact the next generation of humans are going "actually the 90s was extremely based" is just like :blobcatfacepalm: this is the moment it stopped being rose colored glasses.
truly the black rock strategy of slopping everything and hoping for hypernormalization failed, but we still got the cultural damage of a whole generation of trash releases because of it. -

@icedquinn as a kid: why are adults so obsessed with the 50s and 60s. As an adult: I would rather watch tng on an infinite loop for the rest of my life than all the nuslop they're churning out these days.
