   @jeffcliff I intentionally don't read many public health research papers any more (I have a brother who is in that field; no need for both of us to read it when I can just ask him to summarize for me), but I did see one in the past couple of years describing measles in a way we hadn't known before. One of the things it attacks is the particular white blood cells that store memories of prior infections and immunizations, the ones that tell your body how to respond when the same pathogen comes again. So measles, like SARS-CoV-2, can completely reset someone's immune system to almost the newborn state.
