     @ryo I may have shared about Pluton before, an implementation much like Intel ME but Microsoft’s own flavor of CPU circuitry rootkit. It is the wetdream of all DRM jockeys.

     Maybe that's the reason why I prefer to use older computers these days (or ARM-based ones).
     Though still trying to find a ThinkPad X200 online that doesn't cost too much, or I might shop around in Akihabara for one soon.

     @wrongthink this has to be a joke how the fuck would such a thing work? Does it do something like Apples neural hash on the whole video? Why does it need a special chip for that? Also I don't think technology is advanced enough to do that at a video scale
     
     I assume it doesn't apply to Linux or even MPV on Windows and can probably be disabled if this is even real in the first place which I highly doubt
     
     But still shitty spook chip that shouldn't exist

     @wrongthink a chip like this can also be used for good if it's more open unlike Pluton and we assume it isn't misused
     
     To my understanding it adds many of the security features that ARM CPUs implement that Android uses heavily so isn't all bad but it's mostly bad

     @wrongthink@cdrom.tokyo This is not real. That's just not something Pluton can do.
     
     Pluton is very harmful tho. It restricts the user from extracting DRM keys from the hardware, this technology is designed to keep the user from copying things like video games with DRM enabled.
     
     What Pluton can't do however is detect copyright infringement on random files.
