You know how sometimes the clip breaks off of an RJ45 connector on an ethernet cable?
Yeah, so, I have an ethernet switch that's had the thing that retains the clip broken off.
It's a moderately expensive desktop switch with PoE pass through that has been discontinued by the manufacturer, and I dislike the switch from another brand that I bought to replicate it's function.
I could eBay a replacement for £20-30, but then I'd have to wait.
I considered salvaging a socket from my tech boneyard, but I hate desoldering, and I'd probably break the switch.
Some cable ties and mounting hardware might hold it in place, but that would make it hard to dramatically pull the cable out when I have rival hacker in my network.
So... JB Weld putty, molded in place with toothpicks.
Seems to have done the trick.
