@liaizon No, Playlists are only for your own (public) videos, and they can only appear in one playlist at a time.
We will be adding a new Collections feature that will allow you to build a playlist like experience using other peoples (local or remote) content.
@dansup can you make a playlist with stuff from other platforms like from divine.video?
@liaizon Yeah I get that, the naming conventions are based on the TikTok feature names.
Mastodon calls Starter Kits "Featured Collections", but anyone coming from TikTok to Loops will be more familiar with Playlists and Collections
@dansup ah interesting ok, the names for this might be a bit confusing, usually when I think of playlists I think of collecting other peoples stuff for a playlist
@liaizon Is this really a problem though?
Facebook Likes vs Twitter Favourites are an example of how people have no problem with this IMO
Mastodon boosts vs Pixelfed Shares, it means the same thing, and people leverage the familiarity with other social platforms because they all do the same thing.
I'd argue that icons we use are the primary differentiator, most apps don't label these buttons or interactions, and just use icons
@dansup there is sorta a semantic nightmare going on with everyone using different languages to describe the same features, and when you start looking at the atmosphere now all manner of apps there are coming up with new words to discover things and ugh just thinking about now this will all work 10 years out
