     tl;dr GNOME wasn't paying contractors, a member of the board of directors wanted to blow the whistle, someone snitched him to the CoC team (which also forms part of the board of directors) and they banished him from GNOME.

     CoCs are a way around Freedom 0, the non-discrimination requirement of free software.
     
     The wokeists and transjesters want to get rid of RMS because he is our sole defense against the repeal or replacement of Freedom 0 in the Free Software Definition.
     
     Once they get rid of RMS, they can upgrade everything to an Ethical Source GPLv4 and prevent use of free software for "hateful purposes" which is what the wokeists and transjesters really want, a social credit system.

     The goal is to eliminate all four freedoms, not just freedom 0.
