It shows that he made a hard rule and was ready to strike for its violation.
The not leaving is what actually makes it an issue. Had he said it while walking away, it would have been defensive. Instead, this was about ego, not defense. He was engaging in bravado to establish who was tougher, and that's what's going to cause his conviction (a hung jury is also within possibility, but that allows retrial). All other evidence aside, the statements are what matter.
The reporters are saying that when the medical examiner showed the photos of Metcalf's wounds the jurors were all visibly affected and many covered their mouths and gasped. Karmello's mother left the room while it was being shown because she couldn't stand seeing it. Do you think seeing the savagery of the wound will impact the jury decision?
I think the eximaners testimony was more shock than evidence of guilt or innocence. All talk about wound angles, etc., are just Hollywood. A murder or self-defense wound isn't about angle of attack, its about intent and belief. I really think this comes down to his own words and the fact he could have left. Not who was bigger, etc, or where the knife went in.
There is a possibility that the jury may see this va youthful mistake in someway. This isn't a bar fight or a back ally. These were student athletes.
While some people may view this as worse because it occurred during a school event on school grounds, others may say... this was a school kid being stupid.
Nonetheless, if that is the reason for the decision, it's effectively nullification.
I hope it does, I really don't know in this stage of clown world. Even if the jury were all White, without Johnny Cochran, I don't have complete faith that the jurors wouldn't give him a hall pass just for "Muh repayrations"
I think you got it right that their only hope is a hung jury - which could conceivably drag it on for long enough such that most people forget about it. I think this jury will likely convict. But no way to prove that of course until the day of
I'm struggling with some of that. I do think to myself sometimes "What if I don't get back to what I was, who am I going to be then?". All I can do is take this one day at a time and look for things to be happy over. I can walk with a wrist crutch now. Its slow, but its progress
There was a guy a few blocks away that had a stroke when I was younger. He went from being a regular Ned Flanders to smoking, drinking, getting tattoos, and riding motorcycles. Could have been more a midlife crisis than direct stroke effect, but hard to tell.
Emotional regulation is difficult now. I will admit that pre-stroke I had a problem with moderation, after I find its much easier for me to say "No enough is enough" and stop doing stuff
The nigger would have to convince the jury that he was in fear of imminent (key word) serious bodily injury or death, AND was not being provocative. You can't provoke a fight and kill a guy because you were worried he and his friends might kick your ass. It certainly wouldn't lol like you were in fear of any such thing while being confrontational.
No nigs on the jury. That murdering fuck is going to prison for a long time. God willing, when he walks out on parole, Austin's brother will be there to exact some vengeance on the muther fucker.
