@Spooke The problem with ARM windows is twofold: it doesn't run on much hardware and MS signed a predatory deal with Qualcomm.
The qualcomm deal is over, but I wonder how the CPU thing will go. Will you be able to walk into Micro Center and buy an ARM board from say Ampere, and get video acceleration? Will it ever get support on Apple hardware? As of now, it's not supported on bare metal, only on Parallels. https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/microsoft-authorized-solution-windows-11-arm/
I think it might if it shows up in hardware and gets good reviews, as opposed to people crashing out because it had AI in the marketing because everyone's brain is rotted from fear porn.
@Spooke 2017 Apple was actually retarded again but just less than 90s Apple...that's when the Butterfly Keyboard scandal was happening and the laptops were thermal throttling to extreme degrees.
The M1 chip was the biggest comeback for Apple since Steve Jobs came back.
@PurpCat Ngl I wonder if the N1X chip from Nvidia will actually do anything meaningful for Windows. I don't feel like it'll be a M1 moment for apple. The butterfly keyboard is still one of the most retarded things ever. If anything I think Intel dropped the ball the most during 2017 when they didn't make more efficient chips and caused Apple to go Fine i'll do it myself to produce the M series processor to begin with.
@Spooke mac developers have this weird thing around them where they charge money for essentially what's freeware on linux/windows and then wonder why people pirate.
Mac piracy is also interesting because it shows if Linux were ever to be a serious platform that isn't used solely by internet warriors, it'd get pwned quick. By that I mean, there's a lot of "password stealers" that require you to paste shit in the terminal and Mac owners fall for that shit a lot because they have no idea how the black box works.
That will be Linux too if it ever was taken seriously, but thankfully Linux users don't have to worry about having software people will pay for.
@PurpCat I still think the funniest part about Mac OS is the fact that had apple not snubbed Steam on Proton in 2017~. They'd probably be completely crushing Microsoft right now being able to play most games without any true effort on their part. I don't think you can stop normies and the smartphone generation from paying enough attention to realize that running a random curl script is a bad idea without at least vetting it or making sure it's from a trustworthy source.
@PurpCat real talk though I don't see how piracy hurts him. The people who would have pirated the product would have never bought it anyways. If anything wouldn't the piracy lead to occasionally someone just throwing money his way because they liked his product. His products 15 euros it's a drop in the bucket if someone likes his product they'll throw money at his glorified tip jar.
