Is the Propublica boycott still on? Did the staff get their collective bargaining contract?
I can't find any updates. The Propublica Guild website doesn't indicate any resolution. https://www.propublicaguild.org

@shansterable @inthehands @ProPublica the boycott was only a one-day effort. There is no contract yet and the guild is not recognized, the guild has not asked for any public action right now. A lot of ppl are saying they won't re-up their membership unless there's movement. I'm not a laborologist and I don't know if that would help or hurt things. (I also don't understand why the journos don't just all defect and make a worker-owned group instead)

That last one I can guess at: human networks and infrastructure are not easily replaced or recreated, and I imagine that guild members really want to preserve all the good things that do already work.

@inthehands I concede I must be underestimating this; it just seems like all the journos are the ones who have the human networks and infra. What does mgt have other than the biz registration, website, other overhead? Sure don't just burn it down, but ... why isn't their position stronger than say a classic factory workers union? Why does it seem like they don't have any leverage?

All problems look small at a distance. When you write “I don’t understand why,” that is probably a correct statement — just at a reasonable default guess.
Neither of can articulate the particulars because we’re not there. We can, however, trust in the patterns of human systems that tell us these problems are •highly likely• to exist. And we can trust the guild to make a better judgement about them than we can.
