the reason indiana is what it is, is because fertile soil away from the heart of the empire and good rivers from transporting goods for trade nobody cares about us but everyone needs us, 3rd most productive pork state in the union, we're one of the top steel producers in the country too now days.

magic dirt may be a meme, but when it comes to growing crops indiana does in fact have magic dirt.

That's from all the glaciers I remember learning in school.

that's what they say it's also why we're flat we also have good rivers for transport

it may sound crazy but i do think about 'living like its the 19th century' and how possible that would be in certain areas, say if society really does go to shit, which it seems it will just from 3rd worldification, every central service for fuel and water especially will be fukt sooner than later
so clean water especially and say some timber to burn for heat is a real concern as i'm looking for property, even raw land, even in a desert, shit i'll build an earth ship out of a hillside. but water is going to be key

the reason i like indiana, is the soil is naturally great for growing anything, i mean i can't do certain fruit trees that don't take winter, but it's fine.

Yeah, I could never. I'm a flat land type person lol

i'm also a flat lander, i can deal with some hills, but i def would prefer to be in the valley with some land
i couldn't live in like nh especially up around the white mountains. love climbing up there, would hate to live there, those nutters are on another level
the daks are the same way up in ny, love to visit, couldn't live there. although there's not much in some areas like keene to keep vagrants and losers around, i'm sure the shit ball state of ny will eventually finance a mega muslim city there or something and say its totally fine cuz reasons

I had to go there for funerals a couple of times for extended family I never met. It's probably expensive to live in there though, or anywhere not near Appalachia.

if you go further south west into the state into the hills its real cheap, you do have to basically buy a mountain side and figure out how to make it work and hope you dont get flooded out
you'll just need at least one 4wheel drive to make sure the family can get around
i just want to live in a peaceful little valley some place, maybe up against some national forest

I rather like nimby. I was shooting for WV but, nothing was on the market in my price range. I'm loving it here. Small unincorporated town, Angus cattle farms all around. 4 miles from Lake Cumberland.

Morgantown WV is nice, but it would be difficult for me to live on mountains and hills due to me dying from carsickness anytime we drive on them.
