Every time I try something Chinese or southeast asian from Trader Joe’s, I have to be cautious that it won’t offend my ancestors
It would help if all their ethnic things were uniformly bad, but sometimes some items are very very good and some items are so horrifically offensive I want to throw it away and cry

Hmmm it was fine (texture of the knife cut noodles was good) but I really didn’t care for the garlic sesame sauce. It was sweeter than I’d like. Nothing I can’t fix with a half bottle of XXXL hot El Yucateco sauce + Lao Gan Ma black beans chilli crisp

@nspsegal their Korean and Indian stuff is generally better
The frozen gimbap (any) is always good and I like the butter chicken + rice. I used to turn my nose down at all of it but then I moved to a very ‘not ethnic’ place (Monterey) and then I got it (only way I could easily get rice dishes)

I still much prefer Taiwanese instant noodles like anything from A-Sha brand over these lookalikes at Tj (I also think they rebrand Momofuku and I am a David Chang hater)

Partly switching our grocery budget over to more locally available stuff because we used to shop for 80% of our stuff at the Chinese and Indian markets directly and
Frankly the tariffs seem to have made everything 2-3x
Other groceries have gone up in price too but not as noticeably as the Asian products I prefer

@grumpasaurus good instant noodles feel like a diff food group given that sometimes the sauces or soups they come with are as good as Asian restaurants
