> You have Dennis Hopper being Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken being Christopher Walken facing of in one of the scenes of all time.
I would like to see this. (I also have not yet watched New Rose Hotel. I downloaded it, I have it, it has Christopher Walken and Willem DaFoe and it's based on a Gibson short story where they hire a hooker to exfiltrate a scientist so it has to be fun but I have never heard of it so it must be a disaster.)
> You also have thin Val Kilmer
The second-worst Batman?
> Christian Slater
This guy is pretty excellent every time he shows up but I think all I have seen him in is Mr. Robot and Archer. :mrrobot:
@p@ins0mniak Val Kilmer has exactly three good movies. Top Gun, Tombstone, and True Romance.
>Christian Slater He was an 80s teen actor for the most part who just sorta never went away. Also if you have never seen it Heathers is hilarious. It's one of, if not the original, angsty high school revenge flick, but it does it very well and doesn't feel cliched since nothing else hit quite the same way.
Also I completely forgot Slater was in Archer. Those later seasons are just kinda meh.
@ins0mniak@CrayonEater His shit's great. I just wish I'd read Snow Crash *after* reading his books. I think I wanna see that weird car movie he's in; I also think, like, I might grab a copy of "Distrust that Particular Flavor", sounds like a fun book.
@p@CrayonEater yeah his short stories and more off the trail stuff is some of his best stuff.
ive been scouring old zines from the 90s on archive.org...seems like every one has a Gibson interview lol
Yeah snocrash is fantastic but its got a lot of funny meta stuff in it poking fun at the genre. Stephenson is great tho. I just read Seven-eves. 10/10.
@ins0mniak@CrayonEater Well, the other thing about Snow Crash is that Stephenson is way nerdier than Gibson and thought out systems a lot more and understood hackers a little better, so the world felt a little better, even if Gibson manages to write people/dialogue a little better.
> yeah his short stories and more off the trail stuff is some of his best stuff.
@p@CrayonEater Oh yeah man, hes one of us. The orginal idea for snow crash was for it to be kind of a fun interactive software thing on the computer. He found it time consuming I guess and decided against it but that would have been cool as all hell. Some of his other stuff, he gets so in depth with shit. like this last book of his I read he was going on about how certain things on the space station worked, fascinating stuff.
