   I’m so embarrassed by all the Google map reviews that people leave in Mexico city restaurants. ‘I’m from San Francisco so I really know about good food. This place is good!’

   I don’t know why SF people would post such things in a culinarily superior city

     I’m also embarrassed when people who say that are SF residents who will never eat in Oakland or Millbrae or San Jose. Like if you said ‘San Francisco Bay Area food is great’ that is possibly true

     But just SF? So limiting.

     @skinnylatte But great restaurants are where you find them. That is, places where a restaurant can affordably open are not always in the most prominent locations.

     @timo21 there’s also a larger thing about SF ‘foodies’, and the overwhelming whiteness of the food that they venerate. The idea that San Francisco is some kind of culinary wonderland is very different from my experience of it.
