Anyone familiar with the Marshall, CA area? In particular is there anyway to get there that isn't by car? is SF's Amtrak station the nearest train?
Also interested in if anyone has experience biking around there or maybe a bit further up the coast.

@SRLevine SF doesn’t have Amtrak. It has a bus stop that connects to Amtrak in Emeryville or Oakland
For Marshall, you could take the ferry from SF to Larkspur, then the SMART train to Novato or Petaluma and ride up from there
Or
A bus from SF civic center / financial district to Novato / Petaluma then ride to Marshall
@SRLevine also entirely possible to ride up all the way from SF but it’s a longer ride. Staying overnight there or Point Reyes then riding back the next day is also a good idea.
@APBBlue @SRLevine the local sports basement has a fully supported bike ride to point Reyes where you can rent a bike from there and they carry your stuff ;) quite well priced but it’s a good idea for beginners who want help and company on the road (know a few people who do that)
They’ll even rent you camping gear
@skinnylatte @SRLevine This toot is what I love about Mastodon. 🥰
@skinnylatte Thank you, this is excellent planning information, now to see if I can tie it in to transit with my bike from socal or if I'm going to have to rent a car to make this happen.
@SRLevine Amtrak coast starlight to Oakland, get on BART to El Cerrito del Norte, take AC Transit 580 to San Rafael. Relax at a motel in San Rafael then go to Marshall by bike or car (rideshare would be.. 50-70?)
