@Hyperhidrosis@shitposter.world I hate the average Japanese stance towards copyright

@coolboymew@shitposter.world @Hyperhidrosis@shitposter.world I think it's good to normalize it. These zoomers got it right. Make people realize copyright is a broken system.

Sharing things with others is essential human behavior and any attempt to stop that is unethical.

@SuperDicq @Hyperhidrosis The actual reality is probably that they're simply the loudest retards, and it's not like we don't have a lot of these kinda cucks either

I've seen an infographic that showed that some manga/anime piracy site had insane access from Japan, so the ones that do pirate are probably doing the old school thing of shutting the fuck up (Also other general stuff about how Japanese act online mostly), somewhat like we used to do back then unlike the zoomers who literally made fucking tiktoks about piracy sites

@coolboymew@shitposter.world @Spooke@detroitriotcity.com @Hyperhidrosis@shitposter.world "You don't sell it, it's not piracy" clause.Doesn't work. They can just offer a single copy for sale for 10 billion bucks and say "look, we're still selling the thing"

@Spooke @Hyperhidrosis @SuperDicq Talking of copyright being shitty for everyone

It would be great if we had at the very least "You don't sell it, it's not piracy" clause. And perhaps forcing the fuckers to sell the roms directly. Buy the roms, stop buying the shitty no efforts collections constantly or wait for daddy Nintendo to provide it on NSO. Then that also means that rom hacks and fan translations are completely legal and easy now. Forcing them to sell the roms would also make sure that difficult licensing will get solved real easy instead of them just sitting on it

That would be the ideal form of market for old games

@Spooke @SuperDicq @Hyperhidrosis I'm just sick of shitty collections and re-release and having to "beg daddy" to bring me emulated games I already emulated years ago when I was a kid who just got a computer

      Acceptable:
-Collections with translation (Ninja jajamaru-kun collection not only includes like 12~ games, but include the new game, 1 RPG and one text heavy Zelda? like, but also translate everything else, even if it's just the title screen)

-Ports collection (MMBN collection, for example, that's high efforts)

-Unlockable stuff in collection, like art, extra emulated games and such included in the collection (Sonic Gem Collections. They're port, includes GG games and a few Genesis games with it. Achievement system tied to unlocking stuff, fun!)

-Vast collection (Only Sega still dares to release collections with 30 games. But on GC/PS2, Midway collections, Capcom collections, Taito Arcade collections all had around 30 freaking games. You're lucky to get 5 nowadays)

My problem is nowadays is that they're treating their stuff like absolute solid gold and I'm getting really sick of that

In Animal Crossing on GC we had 2 dozen NES games, that's cool. In the New Horizon update? Games you already have on NSO and IT FUCKING CHECKS YOUR SUBSCRIPTION STATUS. WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING FUCK?!. I'm seeing less and less included emulated games for free when it used to happen a lot during the 6th gen. Once again, practically only Sega does it now. Maybe Capcom

      Unacceptable:
-20$ Pokemon rom from The Pokemon Company, because fuck you

-Pokemon Stadium on NSO but 0, EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, RBY/GSC connection because TPC hates you to this level

-No bonus emulated games, go subscribe or buy it 5$, fuck you

-5 emulated games, no bonus, fuck you

-Nintendo: Let's just dump untranslated games on NSO, fuck you

@SuperDicq @Hyperhidrosis I'm snapping on retards on a forum telling them to stop asking Daddy (Nintendo, NSO) for permission to play games they could have already emulated 25 years ago and to just do it

@coolboymew @SuperDicq @Hyperhidrosis paying for nso now isn't going to get you more of x old game IMHO.
Meanwhile capcom weirdly enough does somewhat make good on potentially making a new game in a series if a legacy collection does well.
NSO subscriptions only serve to line Nintendo's pocket as they sell you the ability to even access online features on the nintendo platform.
:cat_wut: features they used to let us have for free in the 3ds era.
Honestly my litmus on if I just pirate a game outright or of I buy it now is honestly just will the money actually go to the developer to make more cool stuff, or will it just go to a corpo who only exists to increase shareholder value now that the window has long since closed. They also probably won't make more of a dead IP I like.
Press F for chibi robo, Nintendo killed the series with zip lash.
This is why I largely think buying used games for titles 10-20 years ago is stupid when you can just use a 3rd party tool to play it on hardware or emulate it.

      @coolboymew @Spooke @SuperDicq @Hyperhidrosis If it doesn't involve a boat, it's not piracy by definition.

A requirement that applies to the state of commercial distribution would not apply to modifications and therefore that wouldn't make non-commerical modifications and translations legal,

@coolboymew @Spooke @SuperDicq @Hyperhidrosis they should start selling ROMs for switch as well and let users run whatever they want on their device.

@coolboymew @SuperDicq @Hyperhidrosis Unauthorized copying of 漫画 in 日本 is relatively uncommon as there is decent service - those come in books of good resolution, that don't have proprietary software.

New volumes aren't too expensive and even if you are broke, you can pick up 2nd hand volumes for a cheap price (generally B-grade quality I reckon (someone breathed on it)).

I would expect unauthorized copying of アニメ to be far more common, as pretty much all studios won't sell you a decent copy without proprietary software (you can get DVDs, but 480p is really lousy).

The only decent quality encoding that is available seems to be blurays and well blurays are designed to not play without proprietary software (free software bluray playback is now possible provided you have the disk encryption key - which can be a problem for the latest blurays, where the key is only stored on a remote server that the player fetches over the internet)).
