@mattly Just logic alone is such an obvious flaw. Instead of holding children accountable and forcing free citizens to sign into something they do not want to... something that is grossly flawed and insecure, why not hold the problem generators accountable? Why not hold Meta, X, google, and all the rest accountable since they generate, allow, and promote the threat vectors? Why not hold the parents accountable so that other people can have a free net? Why not levy fines and legal consequences on the ones creating and endorsing the threats?
The age verification is such absolute shit it's not even funny. Your kid gets in a car and hurts themself, you, as the parent are responsible. Your kid goes to a bar and is served booze, the bar is responsible. Why now, with the net, is this working established system of law turned ass backwards? Is it because we cannot threaten the billionaires? Is it because the billionaires are the only ones who actually benefit from age verification by taking what shred of privacy we have and monetising it?
I, as a person who uses the net, am not responsible for, nor should I be threatened by, the threat vectors here. Hold those fuckers accountable not the entire rest of the internet.
