I’m not convinced either graph is fully valid or the whole story. As a measure of “vs everything in the whole economy,” sure, graph 2 is probably reasonable. As a measure of “vs money that people could use to directly improve their own personal lives,” CPI is not totally off base.

@inthehands @Unlikelylass True, that's a good point. I'd love to do an analysis of Chinese spending on manufacturing infrastructure and clean energy build-outs vs. the American investments in inference hardware at some point
