     25 years in prison is a long time, and yet the transitioning thing suggests a degree of narcissism. I dunno, I'm not against people getting out for a horrific crime if they serve the full 25; over a quarter of one's expected life. Maybe he will go and sin no more ... but if he does fuck up, he probably won't get out of prison ever. If capitol punishment wasn't so expensive, this would have been solved 25 years ago.

     I was talking about the millions of dollars in legal process that can take 3~6 years. In some states with the death penalty, it's literally cheaper to just give them live in prison.

     .22 LR is $0.03/rd in bulk.

     Of course, an actual deterrent is a little more expensive--the price of some 2x4s arranged perpendicularly. That one can be reused, though.

     There have been people who have been put on death row and exonerated, and there are others who may have never actually committed the crime as well. I dunno. I don't think it's as simple as people think. :blobcatshrug:

     Well, it sounds like the problem is less the criminals themselves than the judges who protect them.

     Funny how they never post the names and pictures of judges who release monsters back into public.
