I’ve now wandered off in search of savory pastry. I can have a pastry after I have soup for breakfast. Which I did. I find that most California bakeries lean too sweet for pastry. French bakeries run by French people, and Korean / Japanese French bakeries (they’re a thing) will have more of the savory flavors I prefer. In downtown LA, I found that and more (incl v good coffee) at Korean style cafe Kumquat
The Korean soup I went for was at Yangban in the fashion district. I still prefer Hanbat in K-town but that’s an evening thing. Yangban is open for Korean soup breakfasts from 5:30am.
The rest of my trip will now be tacos, tacos and tacos.
Nice Coffee downtown LA in front of city national bank is a cute little outdoors coffee spot with plenty of plaza seating in the shade. Perfect for a warm day
