   I have a Windows laptop that I use rarely, and while the device manager sees my Android phone when it's connected by USB, the file manager does not. This connection failure just started a couple of days ago. I've tried absolutely everything and nothing solves this.

   Meanwhile it's immediately recognized on my Linux machine and transfers data at a good speed.

   Same cable in each case.

     I've been using it for ages (not getting Win 11).

     Make sure you understand the sync settings fully and test them on a non-essential folder. (Duplicates risk, 99% user 👤 error.)

     BTW, my favorite feature is now to use the PC's keyboard to type on or import screen data into the smartphone.

     That sounds terrible.

     As a work-round:
     Install MyPhoneExplorer (MPE)* on the Win PC and your Smartphone.
     You can then synchronize all files, one-way or two-way (I don't recommend that,) using your WiFi without accessing the internet.
     (You can also sync 🔄 all Outlook data types, as well as phone call stats, but that is not your use-case.)
