I wonder what time travel, and going online where the internet agrees it's 1999, would do to a modern computer. What would "File X is newer" even mean at that point?

I wonder what systems like PlayStation Network would do if I time traveled a PS5 to the PS3 days and tried to use it online.

Can someone please make an open source time machine so I can find out?

@Infrapink The assumption was I'd bring a compatible display. PSN was online. I'm curious if it'd connect, and if so, would PSN freak out it's a PS that doesn't exist yet.

Your PlayStations will have gotten a server not found error, same as if the network goes down. Also you'll have had trouble finding a compatible TV or monitor, since it was all 4:3 CRTs with SCART connectors back then; HDMI won't even have been invented for another four years.

You can get the effect of "File X is newer" today. Touch a file with a future date.
