I feel like in the last couple media interviews I’ve done after stepping down as CEO I’ve done a much better job communicating the vision and importance of the fediverse than I’ve ever done before, which is ironic but maybe logical? Brain work better when less pressure?
it's easier to think clearly about how to manage your farm after dinner before the fire while your mind wanders off to sleep
than it is while you're dealing with your horse trying to kick you in the stall and the broken water pipe for your thirsty goats and pulling up the weeds toxic to your sheep growing in your pasture. etc etc. your mental energy is devoted to mostly swearing a lot in those times
@Gargron In "Thinking Fast and Slow" the author talks about a sort of "budget" that we have for higher order thinking that runs out. Our ability to deal with stress comes out of the same budget as doing complex mathematics or systems engineering, which comes out of the same budget for considered communication. When it runs out we activate all our mental shortcuts, whatever they are and need to be. We get sloppy in everything we do that requires slow, deliberative thinking.
