@winterknight1337 What’s next, VPN providers giving over your data when legally compelled by court order? Is nothing sacred?

I keep seeing people pearl clutching over the Proton news from 404 media today. They got a legally binding court order. When you sign up for the service, they’re pretty explicit that’s if there’s a legal court order from Swiss authorities that compels them to turn data over they will. This went through the Swiss legal system. If this is incompatible with your threat model, then look elsewhere.
Yeah it went to the FBI in the end, but it was all done through Swiss law. Not just American law.
