@izzy@social.shadowkat.net i say we make a separate internet protocol for just adults because i never want to even perceive anyone under 18 on the internet. if they want to create their own network protocols and then maybe that should be allowed, but it should be determined by a <18 legal system all very far away from me :^)

@shibao personally I have no interest in complying in advance with a terrorist state (the US) but given you live there it might be a fair call

@shibao I wanted to turn fluffytail.org into a public instance months ago, only to be met with dumb laws like the Texas lolicon one. I agree with the sentiment and reason why it was created, but it is too much risk since that instance lives in Austin, TX.

At this point hosting and the EU and dealing with the possible GDPR/DSA bulshittery might be a better option.

@phnt@pl.borked.technology i'm just thinking broadly, this will force everyone to host private intranets and then force any external social communications to go through barely visible, centralized private community models like private trackers currently do

basically just completely nuking any decentralized networks in favor of tiny, closed ones or corporations with massive legal teams

jesus christ shit is sinking faster than I thought it would

@shibao Unlikely, but the risk is currently too high for me even though that content would not be allowed as I hate everyone who posts it.

But I run a media proxy for reasons that I won't turn off and the bill is unclear if just having that forbidden content in the cache would be an issue or not.

@mirq@tsogol.tsiran.org i highly recommend finding your local tech hubs, usually they're slack or discord groups, asking local subreddits for your local tech community and getting phone numbers and setting up multiple modes of direct communication with them. don't just join the big groups, you need to have direct communication because those are currently thinking of moving away from slack or discord also

a fitting thing for pedophiles to do
but they've also been doing it for decades. maybe centuries(? i'm not big on historical justifications for laws). "think of the children!" has been a warcry of authoritarians for a long time

i just hope that when the Internet does crumble and we are all forced to either touch grass or as you mentioned maintain tiny intranets that only 'expand' via word of mouth, that I will fall somewhere on the inside.

i don't want to lose touch with you weird people. you all make me feel sane

        ICP license
ICP license (abbreviation for Internet Content Provider; Chinese: ICP备案; pinyin: ICP bèi'àn; lit. 'ICP registration/filing') is a permit issued by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) to permit China-based websites to operate in China. The ICP license numbers for Chinese websites can often be found on the bottom of the front webpage. History This license regime was instated by the Telecommunications Regulations of the People's Republic of China (中华人民共和国电信条例) that was promulgated in September 2000. All websites with their own domain name that operate inside China are required to obtain a license (whether hosted on a server in mainland China or provided into China via a CDN), and China-based Internet service providers are required to block the site if a license is not acquired within a grace period. Licenses are issued at the provincial level. Operating from China is also...
