Time for me to pull up maps and get re-acquainted with Middle East geography. For example, where is Bahrain? (Yes, I've found it now.) Not the prompt I ever wanted to get a geography lesson.

    #Bahrain #MiddleEast

@essjax I actually never realized that the Middle East is considered part of Asia. Yeah, that feels weird to me, too.

@jeridansky My geography is pretty good, but it always seems wrong to me that the UAE, Saudi etc are part of Asia.
I mean, no other continent works either, but 'Asia' seems wrong. 🧐

@tc_morekindness And Bahrain is tiny! You need a map where you can zoom in to get a decent look at it.

@jeridansky This map was very confusing to me until I realized that the water wasn't blue. 🤦♀️ I had seen elsewhere that Bahrain was between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Bahrain, so I kept looking for those bodies of water without reading the text that was more easily seen, e.g., Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Mediterranean...

@soaproot @essjax This brings back memories. When I worked at Memorex, back in the late 1970s, I was involved (from a financial reporting standpoint) with its EUMEA organization: Europe, Middle East and Africa.

@essjax @jeridansky If Asia Minor is part of (some version of) Asia I suppose Arabia is too. But in the business world it is common to divide EMEA (Europe+Middle East+Africa) from AP (Asia Pacific).
