I'm starting to realize how irredeemable Microsoft is (pun intended) and I would love to more heavily invest in linux as a developer.
The problem is not the amount of code but the endless sea of retards you're going to fight trying to contribute to anything. For every good idea anyone has there's going to be two 400 pound autists with purple hair overwriting your code citing some obscure shit from the 80s for why the software should stay nonfunctional and unintuitive.
Half of them probably corporate plants

@RustyCrab most open source people, and especially gnutards, seem to support gatekeeping by means of writing unusable software

@Inginsub yes many of them are very loud about that

@Inginsub I think we just have to pray to valve at this point.
Does valve take pull requests?

@wertimer @Inginsub @maxmustermann I gave tiling window managers a good ol college try but theres just too much friction involved if you're doing anything that isn't editing text with a terminal to the side.
Mostly down to the fact that most applications dont take kindly to being unexpectedly resized

@maxmustermann @Inginsub KDE doesn't work and nobody is going to gaslight me into thinking it does

@maxmustermann @Inginsub I actually am making some Linux software right now fwiw but I am already running into autism problems. Microsoft's way of handling right click context menus is completely fucking insane and direly complicated but it does work mostly. Gnomes way of doing it is just literally fucking stupid and unusable and I dont know what to do about it. It feels like I'm going to need to design something completely different for the linux case.

@PurpCat @RustyCrab i think ubuntu can update without requiring the root password, however
the first time i installed ubuntu, it self destructed in 2 months
the second time i installed ubuntu, i wanted to know how to move or hide the taskbar and was told to go fuck myself
the third time i installed ubuntu, it somehow fucked up the uefi partition during installation

Their non-proprietary utopia is only for the select few, dummy.

@Inginsub @RustyCrab They do, but the frog guy hates X11 so don't expect gamescope and dxvk to work for much longer.
