eBay seller selling camera as “tested working” and says they can’t show me a picture of the battery compartment and can’t test because “they don’t have batteries” (camera takes normal AA batteries).

Seriously I’ve been trying to buy a specific old digital camera for years and every single time people list it as working and I get it and it doesn’t work.
I always get a full refund (eventually).
Like do these sellers think people won’t test what they buy? Do they enjoy making a loss and wasting their time?
@thomasfuchs run away. that's nothing but trouble.
the exception being if you run a repair show and are buying to repair.
@Jason_Dodd obviously, but “condition” has specific guaranteed meanings on eBay, and “used” means it works fine—I’m complaining about sellers trying to be weird for no reason
@thomasfuchs i'm curious, i have bin full of old digital cameras, what are you looking for? if i happen to have one i'll send it to you for the cost of shipping as i wouldn't have paid more than a few pennies foe it.
@Jason_Dodd Specifically looking for the HP Photosmart c500 and the Kodak DC120 Zoom.
@AlSweigart wish eBay would crack down on this but they’re more concerned about their profits then the quality of their platform
@thomasfuchs Nope. They buy giant lots of returned goods which can be in any state, and then pay for fake reviews. I got rubbish from an ebay seller with tens of thousands of reviews, 99.9% positive. They count of people not jumping through the hoops for a refund. And they do it because it works.
