@dlakelan @missqarnstein @HeavenlyPossum "Everyone must contribute to the society in some manner" is also slavery if forced. With just "or risk being shunned" maybe it's not but it's still abusive and unethical. We only need like 5% of the population to contribute something to society as long as the ones who don't aren't actively trying to harm it. There is no excuse for forcing participation; that just begets motives to retaliate with harm.

@HeavenlyPossum okay, but the initial position: "if everyone has to do a certain civil service than it is not slavery" has some merit don't you think?
The libertarian nobody ows anybody anything ever doesn't lead to a world without hierarchy but to a world where anyone can just take what they want if they're stronger and enslave you faster.
