This myth is still floating around, so I'm gonna reiterate please don't use milk on your eyes for teargas or pepper spray. There's a reason we put clean water in industrial eyewash stations. We do not specify milk. Stop.

Is it because milk helps with spicy food? Your eyes are not mouths.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @CedarTea hello clean water is used in eye wash stations to flush chemicals from the eyes when the interactivity or reactivity of the chemical may be called into question at the time of the emergency. Its safest.
Concentrates of Capsaicin are oil and fat soluble (but generally not water soluble unless put into solution like pepper spray)
How is milk contraindicated? -

@Nimbius666 @GhostOnTheHalfShell @CedarTea Pasteurisation does not involve radiation, and nor does it fully sterilise the milk as some bacteria are thermoduric (heat-tolerant). This is why milk that's also filtered will last longer after opening.
While drinking pasteurised milk won't generally make you ill, getting it in your eyes could cause conjunctivitis or corneal ulcers, neither of which are pleasant. 🤷🏻♂️

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @CedarTea milk is pasteurized or ultra pasteurization is used in which the beverage is exposed to radiation to kill bacteria...what is causing infection? Genuinely curious, not trying to be mean. -

In case you didn’t read what I wrote particularly closely how advisable is it to wash ones eye with raw milk??
You know the stuff that isn’t sterile. It comes out of a cow’s udder which has been in the mud and cow feces?
I guess you think having a eye infection like a stye is a good thing

@CedarTea do I still put my tooth in milk before I go to the dentist?
If I lose a finger, should I put it on ice? Should I salt the ice like I'm making ice cream?
