   Saying bye to our princess tomorrow. She has a new mass in her lung right next to her heart, and a potential carcinoma in her GI. That’s 12 things on top of her chronic other 10 things we’ve been managing for the last 8 years.

   We didn’t know what to expect, adopting a senior kitty, but we found love and joy, that felt different from having a pet as a baby: that she knew life before us, and she chose and loved us as hard as we chose and loved her.

   I’ll miss you baby.

   19 years and 2 months, 7.5 of it with us.

     During early Covid we made a call to get a vet to visit our animals at home. It was incredibly difficult to travel and wait (without a car) at a vet in those times (when things were still mostly shut). We also thought that arrangement would help our pets in their last months. I’m so glad we did.

     We have a great vet who comes to the house and she knows Mila well and she takes care of everything. I didn’t want the pressure of the last trip to the vet. She will be home, on her favorite soft blanket, snacking on her fave foods. Just like Cookie, a year and a half ago.

     It will be weird to not have a pet in the home tomorrow, for the first time in a very long time.

     But I’m glad we thought through the logistics, had discussed when ‘the right time’ was, so when this week happened we knew what to do. It still won’t be easy

     @skinnylatte Oh no, I'm so sorry. 💔 She reminds me of a tortoiseshell that my grandparents had, who was a few months older than me and lived to a similarly ripe old age.

     @skinnylatte My thoughts are with you and Mila. She is very lucky to have you. We arranged for the same with Oskar and – as difficult as it was for us – he was at home surrounded by his family, he was calm, and getting pampered and loved till the very end when he left us peacefully cuddled in our arms.

     We said bye to her when she had chicken all over her face. That was a great way to go: she LOVED chicken. It was her favorite thing in the world. Next to us.

     We’ll never forget you. You had such a massive personality that filled out every room. You even brought joy to so many people here.

     She brought us a lot of joy. I shared photos of Mila regularly with my cat-loving partner.

     A reminder for us to get a cat of our own to love and spoil and share with all. So sorry to see her go and thinking of you and your loss. ❤️
