    Had the worst experience getting blood work done this morning. They refused to admit me and take my blood because the requisition was older than 6 months (from my last appointment)

    They said because of the date that the requisition "wouldn't be in the system" and asked me to contact my doctor (who's away on Christmas break) to send another doc.

    In a rage, I left the office to go back home. I scanned the paper into my computer and changed the date.

    When I returned with the edited doc, they were suddenly able to process me and have me in and out in 15mins.

    *shakes fist*

      @MikeFromLFE Thanks for the reply! No no, in our particular health care system, the Conservatives pulled so much money out of public care that it's barely hanging on. Labs and Hospitals are dated and lack funding. Thus the staff who still remain aren't all too happy or helpful.

      The paper my doc filled out for testing had to be manually inputted into their software. My problem could have been resolved simply by the receptionist changing the date herself when she inputted the various tests I needed.

      There's a real lack of humanity left. Like another lady came in for an ultrasound but she was turned away because their ultrasound tech only works mon-wed. How is anyone supposed to know that?

      @sand
      I've absolutely no idea how the system works in Canada but doing that for a UK NHS blood test form would result in the sample(s) arriving at the laboratory and them being unable to process it because the tests needed would be encoded / linked to the QR code.

      The QR code links •in my experience• expire after a finite time (for reasons unclear to me) so unless the tests are written in plain text, they can't be done.

      In your situation •here• the request for the tests - if a paper form is needed at all - would be posted to the patient a week or two before the tests are due. This is the system for my wife's regular Haematology monitoring, and how we used to do it when I worked in pathology.

      (Increasingly the NHS is doing away with paper forms and just printing QR codes onto the bottles at the point of phlebotomy)
